KnowScapes Community · free plan
Community plan limits
The Community plan lets you run the chat assistant on your website without an account at a commercial AI provider. It is meant for real use on a real site — not as a general-purpose API — so it comes with an allowance.
KnowScapes is offered to business customers only.
The allowance
Knowledge source
1 primary website, enriched with world knowledge
Additional document
Under 50 MB · up to 500,000 extracted characters
Sustained rate
Messages answered per hour
Short bursts
Then back to the sustained rate
Daily ceiling
Messages answered per day
One message means one question from one visitor; a conversation of five back-and-forth turns counts as five. In practice 20 per hour is roughly three to six visitor conversations, which is comfortable for a small site. The burst allowance exists because traffic arrives in waves: if nobody has used the assistant for a while, a sudden group of visitors is served straight away, and the allowance then refills at 20 per hour.
When the allowance runs out.
The assistant stops answering until the next period. Visitors see a short notice that it is unavailable for now; they are not shown anything about allowances, accounts or KnowScapes. You see the reason on the plugin’s settings screen, and that notice disappears by itself once the allowance is back.
Nothing is lost while it lasts. Your settings, your agent, your key and your widget configuration are untouched, and the widget resumes on its own.
If it is not enough.
Three options, and all of them keep everything else as it is.
Bring your own AI
Use your own provider key
The plugin works identically with OpenAI, Anthropic and OpenRouter, or with any OpenAI-compatible endpoint of your own. Put your key in the same field, pick a model, save. You are then billed by that provider and no limit of ours applies.
Grow your Knowledge Library
Move to a paid plan
Paid plans add capacity for more documents and, from Business on, connected sources with scheduled updates. In the plugin it is the provider entry KnowScapes (paid plan): same endpoint, same agents, a key slot of its own — the same software with a different key.

support@knowscapes.comKnowScapes AI Client for WordPress
What the plugin has to do with this: nothing.
The KnowScapes AI Client plugin is free software under the GPL, and every one of its features works the same whether you use a Community key, a paid key, your own OpenAI key or your own server. No feature is switched off, no trial period runs, and no part of the plugin checks a licence. The limits on this page apply to the KnowScapes service, and only while you choose to use it.
Good to know.
What counts as fair use?
The allowance assumes a chat assistant answering the visitors of one website. Using a free key to drive bulk generation, to resell access, or to serve many sites from one key is not what it is for. We may throttle or suspend a key that is used that way, and we will tell you why at the address the key was sent to.
Can my knowledge sources contain personal data?
No. Knowledge sources on the Community plan must not contain personal data — no names, contact details or other information about identifiable people. When you register your website, leave out pages such as your imprint, team pages or author profiles. Personal data may only be processed in Enterprise workloads configured for internal processing in Germany. Details are in the service description.
Do visitors see that they are talking to an AI?
Yes. The KnowScapes AI Client shows a short notice under every chat that replies are generated by AI and may contain mistakes. You can reword it in the plugin settings, but not remove it.
Something looks wrong — whom do I contact?
If the assistant stops well below these figures, or the settings screen reports an allowance you did not use, write to support@knowscapes.com with the first part of your key — it looks like lrk_2f788404 — and we can look it up. Never send the whole key.
